Vintage Wagon — Hero Prop & Optimization Study
In this project, I wanted to strike the perfect balance between high-end photorealism and smart UV/Texture optimization. The entire asset stands at 372,390 triangles, allowing for uncompromised geometric details on the wheels and chassis.
- Modeling (Blender): Used instances, mirrors, and array modifiers wherever possible to maximize texel density and recycle texture space.
- Custom Collisions: Created fully optimized custom convex collision meshes inside Blender to ensure the asset is 100% game-ready.
- Texturing (Substance Painter): Layered procedural dust, rust, and deeply weathered wood textures to match the authentic look of the abandoned railway vehicle.
- Modular Graffiti (Photoshop and Procreate): Designed all tags and graffiti as separate decals to keep the asset completely versatile and modular inside the engine.
- Rendering: Setup and rendered in Unreal Engine 5.
